Welcome

   The People's Orchestra of Austin is a community folk orchestra. Our motto is "Music for the People by the People." We accept all instruments and players of all ages and abilities. There are no tryouts or auditions.We play a variety of musical styles and many original compositions as well as traditional pieces from around the world. We meet on Monday evenings at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin at 7pm ( Spring Season February 5-April 23rd, No class March 12th). Sectional/group lessons are offered monthly and the orchestra plays two concerts a year.( Our next concert is April 24th) Private lessons are also available. More on how to join here. We are part of Fractured Atlas , a 501c3 umbrella group that includes our orchestra as one of its sponsored projects.Fractured Atlas "empowers artists, arts organizations, and other cultural sector stakeholders by eliminating practical barriers to artistic expression, so as to foster a more agile and resilient cultural ecosystem." Monday April 9th POA Rehearsal 6:30 pm

This week is focused on our first set.1. La Cumpasita 2. Down to the River 3. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and 4.Daylight. We will also work Kashmir.

Remember to come early 6:30 to get some extra work in.

POA March 19th 7 pm Workshop at 6 

Hello Comrades! Kashmir is up now on the member's page. I will get to church just in time so I can't print your music for you this week. Please print it your self and we will probably wait till next week to hit the piece so everyone has some time to look at their parts. I will be doing a sightreading workshop this week at 6 if you want a little help with your reading. Hang in there! See you soon.

This week POA Rehearsal Monday Feb 19th 7 pm 

Comrades! We will have rehearsal this week on Mozart's A Little Night Music or a Little Serenade ( Eine Kleine Nachtmusik)

Mozart wrote this in 1787. We are playing the entire Allegro ( roughly 7 and a half minutes.)
